Kollsman Puts the "E" in SVS
MERRIMACK, NH - Kollsman's Enhanced Synthetic Vision System (ESViS™) combines the benefits of Enhanced Vision (EVS) with Synthetic Vision (SVS). ESViS™ is designed to create the ultimate in situation awareness for the pilot in all visibility conditions and reduces the pilot's workload by providing an intuitive graphical presentation of terrain, navigation, and obstacle avoidance information in all phases of flight. Dave Wolin, Kollsman's Manager of Imaging Products notes, "The integration of Enhanced Vision with Digital Data systems is a natural move in the direction towards vision based cockpits. The Kollsman design is compatible with all classes of aircraft, from single engine aircraft to the high-end, long range business jets."
Kollsman 's ESViS™ design takes advantage of the most complete, advanced terrain and obstacle databases currently certified for civil aviation. ESViS™ combines the database information with real-time imagery from EVS for integrity assurance. Moving objects, a large factor in most runway incursions, are not visible with SVS, but are readily apparent with ESViS™ . ESViS™ is designed to include necessary functionalities like TAWS and TCAS as well as integrate with either the MFDs or PFDs of today's glass cockpits.
ESViS™ compliments Kollsman's existing line of vision products, including the innovative All Weather Window® EVS and GAViS™, as well as Head-Down and Head-Up Display technologies.
