KOLLSMAN'S NEW MICRO-ViS HUD SHATTERS COCKPIT SIZE BARRIERS
MERRIMACK, NH - Kollsman's new Micro-ViS HUD (µ-ViS HUDTM), a revolutionary Head-Up Display (HUD) design based on an innovative, exclusive optical technology, allows HUDs to be installed where they couldn't before - into all cockpits, even the smallest aircraft. The unique design of the µ-ViS HUD has resulted in a product that is simpler, smaller, and lighter than conventional HUDs. Itzhak Hevrony, Kollsman's Vice President of Commercial Aviation Systems states, "The development of the µ-ViS HUD is a game changing technology. The largest segment of the biz jet market does not have the room for the old style projection HUDs. The Kollsman µ-ViS HUD , with its ease of installation, and overhead or panel mount capability, paves the way for allowing Enhanced Vision technology into the smallest cockpits."
The new optical technology, developed in partnership with Kollsman's sister company El-Op Electro-Optics Industries, eliminates the need for the Overhead Projection Unit of conventional HUDs. The µ-ViS HUD is designed with a unique compact packaging concept that provides installation options flexible enough to accommodate the constraints imposed by instrument panels and very small cockpit size.
The µ-ViS HUD , whether panel mounted or overhead mounted, is designed to display both typical HUD symbology and Enhanced Vision System (EVS) imagery. Kollsman is proud to display the µ-ViS HUD at the NBAA 2005 Annual Convention in Orlando.
