Elbit Systems of America Kollsman’s GAViS™ Being Certified on Piaggio Aero’s P-180 Aircraft
Merrimack, NH - Elbit Systems of America, LLC a wholly owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ: ESLT) is pleased to announce its Kollsman General Aviation Vision System (GAViS™) has been selected and is undergoing installation and certification activities on Piaggio Aero Avanti II aircraft.
Packaged in a single, aerodynamic Line Replaceable Unit (LRU), the Elbit Systems of America Kollsman GAViS™ uses state-of-the-art infrared technology providing superior detection performance and is designed for easy installation. The GAViS™ does not require design of a fairing, or installation of any secondary boxes, which is a unique concept of the GAViSTM system.
Jet Works Air Center of Denton, Texas is completing the installation and certification for Piaggio Aero / Piaggio America as their approved completions and installation center for the P-180 Avanti Aircraft in the US marketplace. The GAViS™ will be certified for the P-180 which is applicable to both the Avanti I and the Avanti II aircraft. This installation is scheduled to be installed and certified by the end of 2008.
Raanan Horowitz, Elbit Systems of America, President and Chief Executive Officer stated, "We believe this important selection will provide unparalleled value to Piaggio Aero customers. The simple antenna like design will provide real time imagery of the outside scene in darkness and low visibility conditions to improve flight safety and increased situation awareness for general aviation. This proprietary product is further evidence of the relentless pursuit of advanced, vision-based aircraft technologies by Elbit Systems of America."
