An Elbit Systems of America Company, Kollsman, Awarded SAFETY Act Designation and Certification from DHS
MERRIMACK, NH, September 13, 2007 – Kollsman, Inc., an Elbit Systems of America LLC, company received Safety Act Designation and Certification from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for the Long Range Reconnaissance and Observation System Mark II (LORROS® MK II). The LORROS® MK II is an antiterrorism technology that facilitates observation and surveillance capabilities by day and by night in conditions of reduced visibility at long range. The system supports a variety of homeland security missions requiring the detection, identification and classification of targets for security personnel to effectively intercept and apprehend terrorists in a timely fashion and support immigration law enforcement.
Based on an open system architecture, the LORROS® MK II includes a pan and tilt unit with a mounting platform for employing and aiming a selection of cameras, sensors, and other detection and observation support equipment, such as spotlights and range finders. The internet-compatible LORROS® MK II can be hosted on either mobile or fixed elevated platforms, and can remotely communicate with external command and control systems through various direct cable or wireless mediums, regardless of distance.
