KOLLSMAN’S EVS AWARDED FROST & SULLIVAN 2004 TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION AWARD

MERRIMACK, NH - Kollsman has been awarded the Frost & Sullivan 2004 Technology Innovation Award for its All Weather Window® Enhanced Vision System (EVS). The award was presented to Kollsman General Manager and Executive V.P., Randy Moore during the Farnborough Air Show. According to Mr. Moore, “we are very pleased that Kollsman’s EVS has been recognized for this prestigious award. Our goal at Kollsman is to continue providing significant safety advances to the air transportation community.”

The Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation is given to the company that has demonstrated technological superiority within its industry. The award recipient is chosen through an analyst team that tracks emerging and existing technologies, as well as R&D developments.

Kollsman’s All Weather Window®, employs a special IR sensor which presents an image projected on any raster video capable Head-Up Display and Head Down Display, providing the pilot with a forward-looking picture overlaying the outside view in a conformal manner. The system allows the pilot to detect light and ground features (such as runways, aircraft and buildings) at night and in low visibility conditions. The pilots and their passengers immediately benefit from lower landing minima, improved flight safety, and increased situational awareness.

Based on a rule change announced earlier this year by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) , pilots are now allowed to use Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS) equipment such as the Kollsman’s All Weather Window® EVS during approaches in place of natural vision. Kollsman’s All Weather Window® EVS is the only EFVS in the world certified to operate with a Head-Up Display.
