Elbit Systems of America Awarded Contract for
USMC Laser Target Designators
$4 Million Initial Order Up to $123 Million Potential
Merrimack, NH - July 12, 2006 - The Defense Sector of Elbit Systems of America (ESA), through Kollsman, Inc., was awarded an initial order in the amount of approximately $4 million to provide high performance Laser Target Designators (LTD) to the US Marine Corps. The system was developed by Elbit Systems Electro-Optics (Elop) Ltd. and is a very lightweight and compact laser designation system which can be easily carried and operated by an individual soldier. The base contract includes several systems and logistics support package which is scheduled to be delivered in the summer of 2006.
The initial order was placed under an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract awarded by the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command, Fire Support Systems Branch in Quantico, Virginia. The IDIQ contract runs for 5 years with total potential orders of $123 million in sales over the 5-year period.
ESA President, Tim Taylor states, "We are very pleased to be supplying the Marines with this advanced capability product solution that facilitates laser designation. Additionally, the LTD is very lightweight and compact thus easing operations for the soldier in the field."
